Norco, CA, October 22, 2026 - Inspired by one of North America’s most familiar birds, QCP’s latest collaboration with lauded landscape design firm West 8 was created for connection and comfort. The Sparrow is a modular outdoor seating collection comprising QCP’s precast concrete with upcycled wood sourced from Street Tree Revival, a program that saves trees from ending up in landfills and repurposes the wood as urban lumber.
“Materiality is a big part of the overall design,” explains Matt Gilio-Tenan, QCP’s director of design and marketing. “We did a lot of sample studies with West 8 to find the right aggregate mix to get the terrazzo finish we wanted.”

The terrazzo could function as a complement to the wood, or as an alternative if wood isn’t the best material for a particular climate or environment. Both are natural, grounded selections that add depth and texture to the seating collection.
Together, these materials have resulted in eight sculptural precast forms to carve out spaces that respond to the landscape and give people more ways to gather, pause, observe, and stay far longer than expected.

“Made with curved, ergonomic pieces, these come together to promote gathering within spaces for long periods of time,” Gilio-Tenan adds. “It can be used as an edge seat wall system and become a retaining wall system, or as a freestanding bench or seating area.”
Sparrow is available with both standard reinforced concrete (SRC) and our lighter weight glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC), with multiple finishes, and can be installed on grade or on a podium structure. This flexibility makes it a versatile choice for bustling plazas, campuses, and more. See our digital brochure here.
