NORCO, CA, May 2023 - QCP is innovating an already popular product to improve flexibility for our clients. The new lineup of Levus lightweight planters is made with glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC), and there are a whopping 54 different sizing options in both square and rectangular forms.

These planters can work as standalone units or as a group. Clients can also order planters with different widths, heights and lengths to create a unique layout tailored to the space.

“Overall, our collection of planters is unmatched, but I have always felt we lacked rectangular options for sites where designers need to define spaces,” says QCP CEO Rick Crook. “And by adding the Levus collection we are on equal footing with anyone in the industry.”

These types of planters are primarily used on rooftops or amenity decks on top of residential and office buildings alike. They can also help funnel pedestrians in a high-traffic area or work in interior spaces as well. Because of their extremely light weight, they provide flexibility that you can’t get with standard concrete planters.

“Designers are very weight-conscious when working on rooftops or balconies.  While the Levus GFRC planters are not quite as light as fiberglass they are pretty close, and yet they will have the aesthetic value and durability of concrete.” Crook says. “With our proprietary GFRC mix we can reduce wall thickness down to 3⁄4 inch, which is a huge weight savings without sacrificing any strength.”

The QCP sales team, seeing the demand, has been advocating for more lightweight planters, especially in square and rectangular shapes.

“Clients are surprised to see how light we can make concrete planters.” shares QCP Vice President of Sales Justin Wait. “They seem very shocked when we break down the weights, and it’s now to the point where the soil and plants are more of a factor than our planters.”

In addition to the quality of the product and lightweight materials, you can also customize these planters with alternative finishes like sandstone, smooth or honed. And as with other QCP products, you can easily mix up the colors as well.

The turnaround time for this collection is also impressive, and significantly faster than the current industry standard. It should take about six weeks to receive your order for most standard sizes. Because of the weight and flexibility of the shape, it’s also easier for the contractors to install them and move around the site.

“I think just about any project can use the Levus,” Wait says.
