They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and when Jeremy Green is involved we’d say each shot is worth more than that.  Jeremy is a professional photographer based in Austin, Texas with a wide variety of experience under his belt.  Jeremy enjoys all types of photography as well as shooting moving imagery.

Jeremy’s love of taking pictures began when he was a young boy.  He honed his skills snapping pictures on travels throughout the world with his family.  Jeremy’s formal training took place at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree.  Jeremy has worked with many well-known companies such as Mobil Exxon, IBM, Johns Hopkins University and Hospital, Duke University, Trinity College of Hartford Connecticut, the Baltimore Museum of Art, The Jewish Heritage Museum in New York, The New York Times, Business Week, The Wall Street Journal, D Magazine, Fast Company, and Texas Monthly.

Jeremy has been collaborating with QCP to bring life to the new Shear product line, a part of the new Agora Collection.  This week Jeremy transformed part of our factory into a glamorous photo studio complete with lights, products, and models.  Cliff Garten of Cliff Garten Studio, the Shear Line’s designer, was also on hand to help coordinate the creation of the marketing materials for this new line.  This is not a first meeting for the two, as Jeremy has photographed many of Cliff’s installations and designs before.  One such installation was 50 UN Plaza in San Francisco.  This evocative design re-imagined a 1932 Arthur Brown project, adding ribbons of curled precast concrete seat walls (made by QCP) as well as fountains to this iconic courtyard.

QCP is proud to have such a great photographer on the team, when we sat down with Jeremy we asked him about his experience taking photographs.  Here’s an excerpt-

QCP:  Was there a particular picture you took when you were starting out that convinced you that photography was your love?  If so, what was it a picture of?

Jeremy Green: When I was a college student, I took a black & white picture of the late afternoon sunlight streaming into a long wooden porch of an old resort hotel in Ormand Beach, Florida, with a row of rocking chairs casting long shadows. I printed the negative in my home made darkroom and hung the print up to dry. When I turned on the light and looked at the print with its rich tones of blacks, whites, and grays...I reflexively clapped in delight! I was smitten.

QCP: Do you find it difficult to work with inanimate objects as your subject matter?

JG: No, I enjoy casting light on objects in a studio or finding beautiful light as it falls on an object, landscape, or building outdoors and revealing that beauty in a photograph.

QCP:  How do you prepare for a shoot?  Does this change depending on what you’re shooting?

JG: Preparation for a shoot varies according to what is involved in the shoot. If there is a support crew needed, if there is travel to a location, if there is extra gear to rent, or if there are other such logistics to prepare for, then a lot of pre-production time & work is involved weeks ahead of time to make it all come together well. All sorts of preparation was needed for the shoot with QCP in Norco, California, for example. But other times I can get in the car and know that with my camera bag and my tripod packed, I have all that I need to make a shoot go successfully. It's all problem solving, which is what makes it interesting and keeps it fresh.
